Canoeing is fast becoming one of the leading participation sports in the area. Many visitors bring canoes with them, but both Croft-na-caber and the Loch Tay Boating Centre hire canoes and organise trips down the River Tay. The journey from Loch Tay through the Kenmore Bridge and down the River Tay to Aberfeldy is gentle and stunningly beautiful as it passes through the grounds of Taymouth Castle Estate. Here you will be passing through the Kenmore, Castle, Point and Bolfracks beats.   There are some nice rapids below the Chinese Bridge, but on the whole this is a route for beginners to thoroughly enjoy. The real whitewater stuff starts when you get down below Aberfedy and especially around Grandtully.

Canoes can be launched from the beach or from launching points at the two centres above. Please do not launch and retrieve rafts and canoes without the landowners permission as it is likely to cause offence. Launching from the Hotel Pool is not allowed. Please keep clear of anglers.
