Although
Kenmore is right in the middle of the Highlands, many miles from the
sea, we do have a beach! It is not exactly huge, but great fun can be
enjoyed on it in the summer months. The beach is to be found at the
very eastern end of Loch Tay and has both
sand and shingle. It shelves very gently, so in the summer the water
really warms up as it is trapped by the prevailing winds. It is a
popular spot for bathing, so launching of boats is not permitted, but
both Croft-na-Caber Water
Sports Center and the Loch
Tay Boating Center have slipways for this purpose. Because of
the many champion trees along the shore fires are not allowed. Parking
is by the beach or in the villiage and public toilets are at Taymouth
Trading or Kenmore Hotel. |
