Although the castle is on first view in a poor state of repair the owners have tried to keep it in good order. The roof has been repaired at a cost of over £200,000. This is perhaps the most important element. Undertaking the repairs is not a matter to be taken lightly. All repairs have to follow and use the original methods. You cannot just bring in you local contractor. Speciallist tradesmen are required for lead working and slates.
