Drummond hill has some fine walks through the Tay Forest park and on top of the hill is a viewpoint looking down on the loch and surrounding countryside. Drummond hill was where the capercaille was reintroduced into Scotland and if you are very lucky you may see or perhaps hear one of these extaordinary birds. You will also have a chance to glimpse golden eagles peregrine falcons and, on the loch, ospreys in the summer.

There is a Post Officeand the Tigh an Loan, a peaceful waterfront hotel, which serves bar lunches, suppers and dinners and has a lochside beer garden and a sun lounge from which you can see spectacular views down the loch.

Also of interest is the Loch Tay Pottery, on the back road through Fearnan where Andrew Burt produces a wide range of handthrown stoneware items for domestic use and decoration. Open all year round, seven days a week, 10am-5pm. Tel (UK) 01887 830251

Fearnan Gallery, exhibiting original paintings and sketches by wild-life artist Keith Brockie and photography by Polly Pullar, is open at weekends, 10am to 5pm, or by appointment, by telephoning (UK) 01887 830609
